    Food:

The arena concession will be open throughout the weekend. There are also a number of restaurants and grocery stores a short distance from the venue.

Where can I eat near the venue?  What if I want to bring my whole team/ crew?

There are lots of food options near Acadia Rec Centre – these are recommendations from the Calgary roller derby community.  We’ve tried to note those suitable for groups, but calling ahead is always recommended for big groups.

    Fast food:

    A&W:  9104 Macleod Trail

Starbucks  – it’s a Starbucks, and it’s near the venue.

Chicken on the Way: 9673 Macleod Trail, this fried chicken take-out is a Calgary institution. Try the corn fritters (ie deep fried balls of dough).

Calgary Co-op  6905 Macleod Trail SE (near the venue):  this grocery store has assorted ready to go take out food.

Market on Macleod: 7711 Macleod Trail SE.  Popular farmer’s market with assorted booths and stalls, lots of food options. A great place to visit for lunch, there are also local artisans and crafters selling their wares.

    Sit-down casual:

Delta Calgary South (our host hotel): 135 Southland Drive SE has 3 different establishments so you can take you pick between pub fare and sit down dining as well as a breakfast buffet!

King’s Head Pub 9116 Macleod Trail SE.  Walking distance from the venue, this pub can handle a group, and are excited to have roller derby folk stop in!  Look for their discount cards at the tournament.

Swiss Chalet: 8900 Macleod Trail SE.

Kinjo Sushi and Grill:  7107 Macleod Trail SE highly recommended by many Calgarians, short drive from the venue (Sushi/ Japanese).

Los Mariachis 7400 Macleod Trail SE.  Small Mexican restaurant.

Buddha’s Vegetarian: 5802 Macleod Trail.   Asian vegetarian restaurant.

Izumi Sushi: 10201 Southport Road – daily specials and a large selection of speciality rolls

Buffalo Wild Wings: 9697 Macleod Trail SE.  There is a location of this chain sports bar near the venue.  If you mention “Team D” when paying, Southern Alberta Junior Roller Derby will receive a portion of sales.  Can accommodate groups.

Original Joe’s. 7403 Macleod Trail.  Chain sports bar/ pub with decent food and some good vegetarian options.
