Today we’ll highlight two teams. Next, we have the Midwest Mavericks.
The Midwest Mavericks Regional Roller Derby Team was founded in 2016 as a means to provide more support to the continued development of roller derby within the team’s catchment area. The team is comprised of players from Cold Lake, Lloydminster, the Wainwright area, the Battlefords and Kindersley. Currently in its second season, this bi-provincial team’s mandate is to offer players a positive environment where they can hone their skills and help build a more advanced roller derby presence in this area.

Today we’ll highlight two teams. First, we’ll start off with the Energetic City Killbillies.
The Energetic City Roller Derby Association formed in Fort St. John in 2010 with the intent of growing the sport of roller derby in Northeast B.C. After seeing more and more women getting involved with derby, “The Killbillies” was officially adopted as the team name in 2012. Since then, the team has worked to further their skills and knowledge of the sport, as well as being a positive influence on the community through volunteering and spreading the message of inclusiveness. The team focuses on being a family and treats each other as such. This has helped develop the teamwork and sportsmanship the team is known for.
