#TEAMTUESDAY – GET TO KNOW ECRDA
Posted on April 11, 2017 by admin

    It’s #TeamTuesday!

Today we’ll highlight two teams. First, we’ll start off with the Energetic City Killbillies.

The Energetic City Roller Derby Association formed in Fort St. John in 2010 with the intent of growing the sport of roller derby in Northeast B.C. After seeing more and more women getting involved with derby, “The Killbillies” was officially adopted as the team name in 2012. Since then, the team has worked to further their skills and knowledge of the sport, as well as being a positive influence on the community through volunteering and spreading the message of inclusiveness. The team focuses on being a family and treats each other as such. This has helped develop the teamwork and sportsmanship the team is known for.

#TEAMTUESDAY – GET TO KNOW ACRD

    It’s #TeamTuesday!

Today we highlight the Avalanche City Roller Girls!

Small-town mountain life in British Columbia is about working hard, so you can play even harder! This may refer to the numerous outdoor activities Fernie has to offer, WFTDA member league Avalanche City All Stars also take this theme to heart when it comes to Roller Derby. Their skaters work hard at practice, honing footwork skills, team strategy, and mental stamina. Their skaters are committed to off-skates training programs to improve endurance, flexibility, and strength. They use practice time to develop their ability to work as a solid unit, so they can skate together, think together, and win together. They work hard all the time, so they can play even harder when they hit the track. After a rebuilding year in 2016, ACAS is stronger than ever in 2017, looking forward to a solid season meeting new competitors, playing some rematches, and also a return to Flat Track Fever.
