#TEAMTUESDAY – GET TO KNOW TOAST (RRD, TCDD, OSRDA, OKRD, SORDA)
Posted on May 24, 2017 by admin

    It’s #TeamTuesday!

Today we’ll highlight Thompson Okanagan All Star Team – TOAST.

The Thompson Okanagan All Star Team (TOAST) is a Roller Derby team established in 2013 by several players in the interior of British Columbia, with the goal of sharing all the derby things between our diverse and far away regions. TOAST has seen players from Revelstoke, Penticton, Kamloops, Kelowna, Vernon, Armstrong and even Saskatchewan! More recently we have brought on players from the more northern regions of B.C. (Quesnel and Terrace). We come together to play tournaments (typically Flat Track Fever and Spokarnage) and we have hosted the Hicktown Throwdown in Armstrong B.C. for the past few years. We are thankful to have our guest coach Skimo from Terrance B.C. and our resident Coach, Just Doug who will keep us on-track in Calgary this year. We are not an official league and as such we have struggled to keep the dream of a regional team alive sometimes, but here we are, ready for Flat Track Fever, one more time!

#TEAMTUESDAY – GET TO KNOW PBDC
Posted on May 11, 2017 by admin

    It’s #TeamTuesday (ok, #TeamThursday…it still works, right?)!

Today we’ll highlight the Pile O’ Bones Sugar Skulls.

The Pile O’ Bones Sugar Skulls The PBDC is going into its 10th season this year.
Pile O’ Bones Derby Club is made up of 3 house teams (Lockdown Lolitas, Bone City Beaver Dames, & 306th Bombshell Battalion) and travel teams (Sugar Skulls All-Stars, Miss Demeanor Junior All-Stars, and Gravediggers Adult B team), officials and non-skating officials, and a junior derby division for girls 7 to 17. We are hosting 6 bouts in 2017, giving you 6 magnificent chances to watch this growing sport.

Our house teams play in Regina against each other, and our travel teams play across Western Canada and USA (our own Sugar Skulls won 2nd place at the 2013 Roller Derby Association of Canada Championship!) and host travelling teams in Regina as well. Bouts are always flashy events filled with screaming fans and skaters who are focused on winning. Occasionally we’ll also host scrimmages, which are just as action-packed, featuring skaters from other teams who travel here as individuals.

Pile O’ Bones Derby Club (PBDC) is a member-run roller derby league and non-profit organization. PBDC began in January 2008 with three women skating in a multi-purpose room at the University of Regina and now has approximately 100 members that include Referees, Skaters and Fresh Meat.

#TEAMTUESDAY – GET TO KNOW SWSRDA
Posted on May 9, 2017 by admin

    It’s #TeamTuesday!

Today we’ll highlight two teams. Next, we have the Redneck Betties.

The Redneck Betties are the Senior Team of the SWSRDA. Started in August 2010, the South West Sask Roller Derby Association (SWSRDA), has been busy training, learning, and growing the league, as well as working with new leagues from other communities to mentor and support them. We are an all-female adult league, but do welcome boys onto our Junior Team. We welcome players of all levels, from surrounding areas, and with our Junior Team the Ra Ra Riots, we welcome players of almost all ages. Our junior and Senior Teams Head Coach is Vic Vega. Every season our Team is a mixture of skill levels from Rookies in their first year to Provincial level skaters. We do have a Fresh Meat program but believe in training together and working together on and off the track as much as possible as a league. Our diversity and adaptability has made us stronger and more sustainable as a league. SWSRDA skaters are also proud members of their community and partner with local, businesses and charities to enhance the opportunities for female athletes in our community. Our main focus is on athleticism and we work hard to be role models for female athletes in our league and community. While not a member of WFTDA, we do follow the WFTDA rules, regulations and standards for Benchmarking and playing. Our home is at the I-PLEX in Swift Current, Saskatchewan.
